Georgian Days in Riga

 

Young Georgian wrestlers are taking almost half of the medals of Latvian international tournament – “Freidenfeld Cup”. On March 23-25, Nugzar Skhireli, head coach of freestyle wrestling team, and Vladimer Adeishvili, head coach of Greco-Roman team, took extended staff to Riga. Finally, all members of Georgian teams, except Skhireli and Adeishvili, stood on the pedestal.

According to the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles, teams of 19 countries participated in “Freidenfeld Cup”. Georgian teams won 29 medals and became champions in both styles.

Freestyle wrestling team won 6 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. Beak Bujiashvili (50kg), Levan Kelekhsashvili (60kg), Zura Iakobashvili (66kg), Sandro Aminashvili (84kg), Omar Gusoshvili (96kg) and Geno Petriashvili (120kg) became champions. Lasha Talakhadze (55kg), Lasha Bitarashvili (60kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (96kg) took the second place. Otar Gogava (55kg), Konstantine Khabalashvili (66kg), Zurab Kvelashvili (74kg) and Levan Gogrichiani (84kg) took the third place.

Here is the result of Greco-Romans: 6 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals. Zura Sanikian (50kg), Ramaz Surmanidze (55kg), Giorgi Davitaia (66kg), Tornike Dzamashvili (74kg), Robert Kobliashvili (84kg) and Levan Arabuli (120kg) became champions. Giorgi Meladze (50kg), Khvicha Chitava (60kg), Iakob Kajaia (96kg) and Shota Gogisvanidze (96kg) took the second place. Nika Tsetskhladze (55kg), Amiran Shavadze (60kg), Piruz Tsulukidze (66kg), Lasha Gobadze (74kg), Davit Chakvetadze (84kg) and Beka Kurtsadze (96kg) won bronze medals.
