Georgian Chess Players are One Point Behind the Leaders

 

The 9th International Istanbul Chess Festival started. A big delegation from Georgia used to participate in this tournament. But, this year simultaneously is held Baku tournament, that’s why only two chess players of Georgia take place in this festival.

After six rounds, according to point results leaders are Renat Bigaliev of Russia (2412) and Andrey Sumets of Ukraine (2618). International chess masters Sopho Gvetadze (2355) and Giorgi Bagaturov (2447) are one point behind them.

In the 7th round Gvetadze plays against Syrian Yaser Taweel (2113) with white pieces and Bagaturov against Emir Ozturk of Turkey (2208).

Turkish tournament consists of 9 rounds, prize money is 14 500 USD, winner will be awarded by 2000 USD.
