Georgian Chess Players Are in Top 3

 

Georgian women’s team moved to the third place at World Chess Team Championship. Georgian women defeated Greece 3:1 in the fifth round of the tournament which is underway in the city of Turkey, Mardin. Georgians have 7 points.

Nana Dzagnidze and Bela Khotenashvili achieved success with black pieces. Lela Javakhishvili and Salome Melia played draws with white pieces.

After five rounds, Chinese team is leading the tournament with maximum points (10). Chinese chess players won over one of the favorites Russian team – 4:0. India is in the second place with 9 points. Indians beat Vietnam 4:0.

Nine rounds will be held at World Championship and it will end up on December 27. Friday is a day off at the tournament and chess players will go on excursions to historical places of Mardin. The sixth round games will be held on December 24. Georgian women will play against Ukraine. Games between India and Russia will also be interesting.
