Supreme League teams have to hold 3-3 matches within 11 days at Georgian national rugby championship.
The first match of the 23rd championship will start at 15:00 at “Teknikumi” stadium in Rustavi. “Kharebi” will host “Academy” Tbilisi. Last year, these teams fought for staying in Supreme League and they did it.
This year, “Kharebi” has problems. In the first round, they lost against “Aia” Kutaisi 0:35. They played better in the second round and lost against “Army” 17:23. “Academy” beat “Kochebi” 19:15 in the first round but then the team could not do anything against “Aia” and lost 3:21. Other three matches will start one hour later at 16:00. These matches will be held at “Shevardeni” base. “Lelo”, winner of Cup, will host “Army”, debutant of Supreme League, which has strengthened with rugby players of “Kochebi” and the team has ambition of winning the championship.
This year, “Lelo” won both matches – first they beat “Armazi” (36:12), then won over “Lokomotive” 27:19. In the first round, “Army” could not beat “Lokomotive” (16:26) but won over “Kharebi” 23:17.
If not financial crisis of “Kochebi”, central match of the third round would have been held at “Wissol” stadium in Digomi. “Kochebi” will play against “Lokomotive”. First, “Academy” beat “Kochebi” (19:15), then “Armazi” did the same (33:17). In last mini final, “Kochebi” was winning over “Lokomotive” 11:0 but the team could not keep advantage and lost 14:18.
“Aia” Kutaisi will try to win three matches in a row. “Aia” will play against “Armazi” Tbilisi in Poti. The team has already held one match there and they beat “Kharebi” 35:0. “Aia” won over “Academy” 21:3 in the second match. “Armazi” is a fighter team. In the first round, “Armazi” did not give up “Lelo” after 0:36. Last round, the team won over “Kochebi”. Matches of three rounds will start on April 30 and will end up on May 10.
