Yesterday, ballot of EuroBasket 2011 was held. Georgian team which will participate in the final stage for the first time is in Group D with Slovenia, Russia, Belgium, Bulgaria and Ukraine. 3 best clubs from each group will go through the next stage.

About 800 guests and 150 journalists attended the ballot which was held in Vilnius. Before the ballot, each country was presented originally. The hosts presented Georgia with song “Suliko”.

So, here are the groups of EuroBasket.

Group A: Spain, Turkey, Lithuania, Great Britain, Poland, winner of the qualification 2.

Group B: Serbia, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia.

Group C: Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, winner of the qualification 1.

Group D: Slovenia, Russia, Belgium, Georgia, Bulgaria, Ukraine.

It is known that Georgian team will hold the group matches in Klaipeda. Georgian basketball players will start playing at EuroBasket on August 31. Their first opponent will be Belgium. On September 1, Georgian will play against Russia, on September 3 – against Slovenia, on September 4 – against Ukraine, on September 5 – against Bulgaria.

3 best teams from each group will go through the next round where 2 6-team groups will be formed. Then 4 best teams from each group will be paired in ¼ final.
