Today Georgian arm-wrestlers returned Tbilisi from Brazil. On September 10-17, at World Arm-Wrestling Championship Georgian national arm-wrestling team gained six medals. Genadi Kvikvinia wrestler in 110 weight category gained two gold medals. Leader of the team gained gold medal in right-wing wrestling as well as in left-wing wrestling.
Besides Kvikvinia, Nikoloz Matiashviliu and Jaba Getiashvili also gained medals in senior tournament. Both of them wrestled in the same weight category- 75 kg. Matiashvili won silver medal and Betiashvili – bronze. Guram Abulashvili took the second place in left-wing wrestling and the third place in right-wing.
“it was very strong championship and our team had really good result. It goes without saying that success of Genadi Kvikvinia pleased us most of all. In Brazil he proved that he is the strongest arm-wrestler in the world”- stated Erekle Gurchiani President of Georgian Arm-Wrestling federation.
Genadi Kvikvinia world champion made the following comment with journalist at the air-port:
“I was very well prepared for Brazilian world championship and the result is the relevant. I am very happy, that I competed so well. There was a strong competition, I was a little bit nervous before the final, because my opponent was Brazilian sportsman, who is four-time world champion, but finally I became world champion the fourth time. I would like to thank everyone, who played even little role in my success, thanks for supporting, it encourage me so much”.
