Tomorrow, at 16:30 Tbilisi time, European Team Chess Championship will start in Greek Porto Carras. The round games will start at 17:00. Georgian women’s and men’s teams will participate in it.
Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian women’s teams are considered as favorites. Though, Armenia, Poland and Germany have strong teams. Two Georgian chess players are playing for other countries’ teams: Nino Maisuradze will play for French team and Tea Lanchava – for Dutch team.
Russian team is a main candidate for victory at men’s championship. Ukrainian, Azerbaijani and Armenian teams follow it. Georgia has the 15th rating.
This year, debutants of the teams are: Nazi Paikidze – in women’s team and Davit Zarkua – in men’s. The best result of Georgian men was the third place in 2003. Women’s team won gold medal in 1997.
Nine rounds will be held at European Team Chess Championship and it will end up on November 11.
