Mamuka Kordzaia (96 kg), member of Georgian youth freestyle wrestling team, won silver medal at World Championship which is underway in Bucharest. Last two days of World Championship are for freestyle wrestlers. Yesterday, champions and prize winners were found out in 50, 60, 74 and 96 kg. Four Georgians wrestled on the mat but only one stood on the pedestal.
Mamuka Kordzaia lost against Iranian Hamed Delavar Talebizarrinkamar in the final. He won the first set but could not keep the advantage. Georgian wrestler beat three opponents before the final.
Other members of Nugzar Skhireli’s team lost in the first round. They did not have chance to wrestle in repechage.
Levan Rochikashvili (50 kg) wrestled on Romanian mat only once. He lost against Azerbaijani Mirjalal Hasan-Zada. Tengiz Chochishvili (60 kg) lost against the first opponent – Iranian Behnam Eshag Ehsanpur. After beating Mexican Luis Antonio Ortigoza Hernandez and Indian Deepak Deepak, Beka Petriashvili (74 kg) lost against Azerbaijani Ybrahim Iusubov.
Today, champions and prize winners will be found out in 55, 66, 84 and 120 kg. Vladimir Khinchegashvili (55 kg), Davit Galegashvili (66 kg), Davit Marsagishvili (84 kg) and Tedore Ebanoidze (120 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia. Khinchegashvili will start participation with wrestling against Austrian Maximilian Auserleitner. Galegashvili will wrestle against Russian Khetik Tsabolov, Marsagishvili – against New Zealander Faisal Ataye and Ebanoidze – against Hungarian Richard Serchic.
