Georgian freestyle wrestling team returned from European Championship. The team which won five medals at the tournament was greeted by relatives, journalists and fans at Tbilisi international airport. The team of Zaza Turmanidze gained 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals on Serbian mat and took the second place.

“It is an Olympic year and I wanted to become champion of Europe. I wanted everyone to see what I can achieve. I am happy that I reached my goal. This gold medal is a great stimulus for me” – Davit Marsagishvili, champion of Europe, stated to “World Sport”.

Head coach of the team estimated participation of the team in Belgrade:

“It is quite strong European Championship and it is pleasant that we achieved good result. The boys proved that they are best in their weight classes. They can not only get in Olympiad but also to compete successfully. As for Marsagishvili, he stably shows good results. He has not won European Championship before and needed this gold very much. Only five months are left till Olympiad” – stated Zaza Turmanidze.
