Freestyle Wrestlers Gained First Medals in 2013

 

Georgian wrestlers gained the first medals of 2013 in Azerbaijan. On January 10 Baku hosted Mushvig Isayev traditional international tournament and four Georgians stood on the pedestal.

Giorgi Kazarashvili became champion on 54kg and Givi Macharashvili – in 100kg. Both of them defeated hosts in final: Kazarashvili beat Arif Huseynov and Macharashvili – Rustam Gajibekov. Tariel Gaprindashvili (69) lost to Abumusil Mukhidinov of Russia in final and won silver medal. Giorgi Pasikashvili (50kg) took the third place. Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Uzbekistan participated in the tournament.

Tamaz Bendianishvili took the Georgian team to Baku. Luka Kurtanidze, president of Wrestling Federation, replaced him with a new head coach Shako Bedinidisi.
