Four Points of Five Georgians

 

The game between Gaioz Nigalidze (2460) and Levan Pantsulaia (2592) ended up draw in the fifth round of the chess tournament which is underway in the city of Iran, Tabriz. These chess players earned 4-4 points and are in the 9th-10th places.

Other three Georgian chess players have the same points. In the fifth round, Shota Azaladze (2403) played draw, Malkhaz Sulashvili (2441) and Bachana Morchiashvili (2372) beat Iranian chess players. According to the additional data, Azaladze is in the 8th place, Sulashvili – in the 13th place and Morchiashvili – in the 15th place.

After five rounds, Puria Darin of Iran (2458) advanced with maximum points. Ehsan Ghaem-Maaghami of Iran (2570) and Tigran Kotanjian of Armenia (2533) are 0.5 points behind him.

The game of Kotanjian-Darin and Pantsulaia-Ghaem will be central in the sixth round.

13 grand masters are among 122 chess players from 12 countries at the Iranian tournament. 11 rounds will be held at the tournament. Prize money is 40 000 USD.

In the ninth round of Andranik Margaryan tournament, Giorgi Baghaturov (2449) lost to host Hovhannes Gabuzyan (2402) with black pieces. Giorgi is in the 11th place with 4.0 points. Two rounds are left till the end of the tournament. Puia Idan of Iran (2448) and David Kalashyan of Armenia (2419) will be opponents of Baghaturov. Vladimir Belous of Russia (2522) is leading Margaryan tournament with 7.0 points.
