Football Returns to National

Georgian national football championship will be resumed in Poti on February 12. “Kolkheti” will host “Samtredia”. It is snowing in Imereti region and perhaps, the weather will not be fine for the regional derby which is to be held in Zestaponi.

12.02, 14:00. Poti “Pazisi”. “Kolkheti” (Poti) - “Samtredia” (I - 1:0, II - 1:1)

Disqualified: Vaja Lomashvili (“Samtredia”).

Referees: A. Krichashvili; Z. Jvaridze, K. Tepnadze; M. Beuklishvili.

The championship will be resumed with the match between “Kolkheti” and “Samtredia”. Because of “Samtredia” does not have sponsor, it can be called a public club. But we will see how long it lasts.

Enthusiasm of Temur Barkaia lasted till the middle of the second circle. Poti Port, sponsor of “Kolkheti”, could not transfer money to the account of the club on time. “Kolkheti” hopes to end up the season.

13.02, 14:00. Zugdidi, “Gulia Tutberidze”, “Baia” (Zugdidi) - “Sioni” (Bolnisi) (I - 2:2, II - 3:1)

Referees: Kh. Gagnidze; K. Gabriadze, I. Machitidze; B. Ninua.

Opponents had a good preparation period. “Zugdidi” knew about its possibilities (about 200 000 GEL till May). The team of Elguja Kometiani held only 7 sparring-matches (the team beat “Samtredia” 5:0, “Ulisses” Yerevan 3:0, “Guria” Lanchkhuti 8:0, “Gori” 2:1, drew against “Kolkheti” Khobi 0:0, lost against “Samtredia” 2:3 and “Merani” Martvili 1:2).

Also, “Sioni” held many sparrings. Like its opponent, in January-February, “Sioni” held 7 sparrings (“Spartaki” Tskhinvali – 1:1, “Olimpi” Rustavi – 2:1, GTU – 3:0, “Samtredia” – 3:0, “Guria” – 6:1, “Ulisses” – 2:2, “Neftchi-ISM” Baku – 1:2). Head coach Giorgi Kipiani resigned and Giorgi Kipshidze was appointed at this position.

“Sioni” and “Baia” held 6 matches against each other. “Baia” won 2 matches and “Solnisi” won one. (balls 6:5 in the favor of “Baia”).

13.02, 14:00. Rustavi, “Poladi”. “Olimpi” (Rustavi) - “Wit Georgia” (Tbilisi) (I - 2:1, II - 4:0)

Disqualified: Giorgi Rekhviashvili (“Olimpi”); Irakli Klimiashvili (“Wit Georgia”).

Referees: T. Gvantseladze; Z. Menteshashvili, G. Chigogidze; J. Khorava.

Traditional opponents have different goals. New management heads “Olimpi” and the club still has ambition to become champion. As for “Wit Georgia”, the club has weakened but it is not excluded that “Wit Georgia” might return the lost positions.

“Olimpi” and “Wit Georgia” held 13 matches against each other. “Olimpi” won 5 matches and “Wit Georgia” won 4 matches. Ball difference – 16:11.

13.02, 17:00. Tbilisi, “Boris Paichadze”. “Dinamo” (Tbilisi) - “Spartaki” (I - 1:0, II - 0:0)

Disqualified: Valeri Bolkvadze (“Spartaki”).

Referees: L. Silagava; Z. Pipia, G. Kruashvili; A. Nonikashvili.

“Dinamo” is one of the favorites of the championship.

“Spartaki” Tskhinvali will resume the championship with the ambition to stay in Supreme League. Coaching staff of “Spartaki” formed a good club. After appointing Badri Kvaratskhelia as a head coach of the club, “Spartaki” drew against “Dinamo” 0:0.

The clubs held 13 matches against each other. “Dinamo” won 9 matches, “Spartaki” – 1 (ball difference 27:7).

14.02, 16:00. Zestaponi, “Davit Abashidze”. ”Zestaponi” - “Torpedo” (Kutaisi) (I - 2:1, II - 0:1).

Referees: G. Vadachkoria; I. Ukleba, Z. Berulava; Sh. Kukhilava.

It is snowing in Zestaponi and perhaps, the match will be postponed.

Sergo Putkaradze, press-attache of “Zestaponi”, told “World Sport”, that because of the weather the club trained in Tbilisi on Friday. But the snow started melting and “Zestaponi” returned to its native region on Saturday.

The last match between these two clubs was remarkable because after a 6-year pause “Torpedo” won for the first time (1:0). The clubs held 28 matches against each other. “Torpedo” won 13 matches, “Zestaponi” – 10 (ball difference 49:32 in the favor of “Torpedo”).
