First Steps of Maia and Nana toward the Second Round

Nana Dzagnidze (2551) and Maia Chiburdanidze (2502) won first round matches at World Chess Championship which is underway in the city of Turkey, Antakya. Sophiko Khukhashvili (2430) played draw and Maia Lomineishvili (2347) lost her match.
All 4 Georgian chess players played with white pieces. Maia Chiburdanidze beat Indian Subbaraman Meenakshi (2328) on the 23rd move. Dzagnidze won over Dina Kagramanova (2101) who is competing in the name of Canada on the 53rd move.
Khukhashvili played draw against Russian Irina Turova (2439) on the 55th move. Lomineishvili lost against Irina Zatonskih (2478) participating in the name of the USA on the 46th move.
2 mini-matches will be held at each stage, except the final. In case of draw, additional tiebreaks will be held. Tomorrow, the opponents will play again but this time Georgians will play with black pieces. 6 rounds will be held at the championship.
450 000 USD is prize money of the tournament. Champion will win 60 000 USD. Player who will lost in the first round will get 3 750 USD. Other money will be distributed this way: II round – 5.500, III round – 8.000, IV round – 12.000, V round – 40.000, VI round – 30.000;
