Georgian judo team has settled in Asia for three weeks. The team of Peter Seisenbacher arrived in Japan on May 13. The team moved to South Korea on May 20 and trained with the local team till May 26. Then, the team went back to Japan and is training with the local team. The meeting will end up on June 5. After that, the team of Seisenbacher will depart for Brazil and will compete in Rio de Janeiro “Grand Slam” on June 9-10. On June 16-17 Georgians will wrestle at Buenos Aires World Cup. This tournament will be the last rehearsal before Olympiad.
Georgian team will Olympic candidates will participate in training-camps in Czech Republic and Spain from June 25. Georgians will hold the last meeting on Dusheti Olympic base.
The following judokas have Olympic licenses: Amiran Papinashvili, Betkil Shukvani (both 60kg), Lasha Shavdatuashvili (66kg), Nugzar Tatalashvili (73kg), Avtandil Chrikishvili (81kg), Varlam Liparteliani (90kg), Levan Zhorzholiani, Irakli Tsirekidze (both 100kg), Adam Okruashvili and Zviad Khanjaliashvili (both +100kg). Shavdatuashvili, Tatalashvili, Chrikishvili and Liparteliani will wrestle on Olympic mat for sure. There are 2-2 candidates in 60, 100 and +100kg.
The abovementioned meetings and tournaments are planned for 10 candidates. Khanjaliashvili is the only exception this time. He has shoulder injury. Perhaps, he will leave for Rio de Janeiro “Grand Slam” with the team.
