Georgian player will play in the final match of the current tennis tournament which is underway in the city of Ukraine, Kharkov ( prize money 25 000). It was cleared up when Oksana Kalashnikova ranked No.1 and Sopho Shapatava (rating 4) won matches of semi quarter and went through the final match.
Both of Georgian players won matches very easily. At first Shapatava won over Polina Pexova of Belarus 6:4, 6:2 and soon Kalashnikova beat Aliz Lim of France 6:4, 6:3.
Georgians still play quite well in couple’s tournament. Kalashnikova and Ukrainian Arefieva won over host couple- Malkhasyan and Pavlova 6:2, 6:4. They will play against Ukrainian duet (Piven- Vasileva) in semifinal. Shapatava and Sopo Kvatsbaia also will fight for going through the final. They won over Ukrainian duet- Ivakhnenko and Litovchenko 6:4, 6:4 and in the semifinal will play against duet of Romanian Buzarnenko and Shamaiko.
Unfortunately, Anna Tatishvili was unlucky. She was losing with American Alexandra Stevenson 1:4 in the tournament which is underway in the U.S.A (prize money 50 000) when she refused to continue match due to injury. Since that time she has won 4 matches against American opponent.
