On September 19-28 Batumi Chess Palace will host European Youth Chess Championship. The tournament will be held among 8-18 years old boys and girls and about 700 chess players from 34 countries will participate in it.
The opening of the tournament will take place at Batumi hotel "Intourist" at 20:00 today. Boris Kutin, president of European Chess Union, Lado Vardzelashvili, minister of Georgian Sport and Youth Affairs, Gia Giorgadze, president of Georgian Chess Federation, and other honorary guests will make a speech.
Legendary chess player Garry Kasparov is going to arrive in Batumi and attend European Championship.
240 Georgian chess players will compete in European Championship.
