Georgian chess player Nana Dzagnidze (2535) returned to top 10 of world ranking. As far as you know, Dzagnidze appeared in world ranking in 2009 and during three years she took the 4th place twice, this time she is in the 9th place in the first classification of New Year.
As a result of achieved success at world chess team championship Georgian grand master has progress in world ranking. Georgian women’s team gained bronze medal at this tournament and as for Nana, she was the 3th in the first board. After this tournament Dzagnidze’s ranking is 2535. Hungarian Judit Polgar (2710) keeps the first place in this ranking, two times champion of world Chinese Yifan Hou (2605), Hampy Koneru (India, 2589), Ana Muzichuk (Slovenia, 2580), Katerina Lahno (Ukraine, 2557), Venzhun Zhu (India, 2589), Ana Muzichuk (China, 2580), Nadejda Kosintseva (Russia, 2537), Nana Dzagnidze and Anthuaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria, 2523) are in top 10.
Besides Dzagnidze 12 Georgian chess players are in top 100, those are the following: 17. Maia Chiburdanidze (2500), 21. Bela Khotenashvili (2490), 33. Lela Javakhishvili (2454), 38. Ana Matnadze (2447) 42. Nino Khurtsidze (2444), 49. Nino Batsiashvili (2426), 61. Nazi Paikidze (2411), 64. Sophiko Khukhashvili (2408), 68. Salome Melia (2398), 79. Sophiko Guramishvili (2384), 84. There is the only Georgian male chess player in top 100 – Baadur Jobava, he is in the 38th place with 2704 points. Magnus Carlseb (2835, Norway) is in the first place of men’s top 100 world ranking. Besides Levon Aronyan (Armeniam 2805), Vladimer Kramnik (Russia, 2801), Vishvanatan Anand (India, 2793), Teumur Rajabov (Azerbaijan, 2773)m Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 2770), Sergey Kariakin (Russia, 2769), Vasil Ivanchuk (Ukraine, 2766), Aleksandr Morozevich (Russia, 2763) and Vugar Gashimov (Azerbaijan, 2761) are in this top 10.
Nazi Paikidze (2411) is in the 5th place in U-20 world ranking, Meri Arabidze (2358) is in the 11th place. There is no any Georgian male chess player in U-20 men’s world ranking.
