Dramatic Final

Most spectators attend Georgian Basketball Championship matches in the city of Georgia, Kutaisi. Yesterday’s match between “Kutaisi” and “Sokhumi” was one of the spectaculars.

At the beginning of the match hosts had advantages, but “Sokhumi” did not let the rivals to advance with big point difference, but they had difficulties in playing against Buba Kvimsadze and Rezo Didia, who were playing very well in this match. Avtandil Lominashvili young player was playing well with this duet.

In the second period “Kutaisi” advanced with 9 points, but guests did their best and lost the first half with 4 points.

In the second half both of the teams had difficulties, but soon hosts had 16-point advantage. Giorgi Barbakadze was the most distinguished in this period. As for the guests, Lasha Parghalava was the most distinguished. Chaildze also followed his example and soon they managed to reduce point difference. Kvimsadze leader of “Kutaisi” scored from average distance 80:77, Parghalava scored three-point kick in 9 meters and the points equalized.

Barbakadze scored but the last attack belonged to guests. The hosts were fouled. At the last minute Haris was to kick but referee did not let. As a result “Kutais” won this difficult match.

Ainars Bagatski(head coach of “Sokhumi"): ”Within the whole match we played only 7 minutes in a normal way and it almost was enough for winning the match. Our rival is really good team and it was luckier than we in this match. I congratulate them victory”.

Shota Javakhishvili("Kutaisi"):“Sokhumi” is very strong team and it has brilliant basketball players. In the decisive part of the match guys believed victory in advance and we were almost punished. We should not make such mistake any more in the future”.
