Domenti Sichinava president of Georgian Football Federation is not going to resign and settle new election. He stated about it after the meeting of Executive Committee, which was held at GFF.
Domenti Sichinava: “Yesterday I and general secretary Rezo Atveladze met Levan Kipiani minister of Sports and Youth Affairs. We talked more than one hour. A new minister told me to check my conscience and set special election. I have checked my conscience and I stayed on this position. I am legally elected president. In 2011 I told everyone that I was not to participate in the elections and I registered 50 minutes before deadline, that’s why this election was not political. The new minister told me that I have to make elections to be true with me conscience and in front of fans. I have a lot of levers and can use them. There are lobby interviews for start some lever to work and make special elections”.
Sichinava also stated that without held of the government he is ready to guarantee holding national and age championships, also to keep the office of football federation.
“When we get help from the government, we send letters to UEFA or FIFA, if it is possible to pay back our dept with their money. We have 350 000 USD in dept, which is included in the contracts which will be paid back automatically till 2013. We are ready not to fire people from federation and keep the course, what we are having for these three years. At the meeting with the new minister of Sports we also talked that football is regressing in recent years. According to it, our age teams are always in elite-round. During the last five years we had such result only once, so we cannot talk about regress”- stated Sichinava.
Today at this meeting was decided that there is changes in regulation of the 24th championship 2012-2013, first leagues and doubles, the 23th Cup and according to it, host team after ending the match has to provide seeing off referees’ delegation, observers and guest team in a safe way. It also was decide that in December-January, regional federations will hold five cup tournaments: named after Ramaz Shengelia, Slava Metreveli, Sergo Kotrikadze, Zaur Kaloev and Vitalt Daraselia. The matches will be held among age teams in December –January in regions. The matches will be held in: Mtskheta, Kobuleti, Imereti region and Tbilisi. At this meeting also was discussed to create new position for honorable president.
As Sichinava said, honorable president will be a person, who had done much for Georgian football and who will leave for the meetings of FIFA and UEFA, for representing Georgian side.
