Domenti Sichinava is President of Georgian Football Federation for four years.
Today in “Holiday- Inn” hotel has been held 19th electoral congress of GFF, where Domenti Kacharava has been elected as president of federation for four years. His candidate was put forward in election by 20 subjects, those are the following:
Tbilisi Football Club "Wit-Georgia", Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti football federation, Zugdidi Football Club "Mglebi", Shida Kartli regional football federation Imereti regional football federation, Kakheti regional football federation, Guria regional football federation, Women’s football federation, Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional football federation, Union of Veterans, Yard football federation, “Beach Soccer” football federation, Association of Football Schools, “Torpedo” Kutaisi, Professional Union of Football, Union of Georgian coaches, Adjara regional football federation, Samtskhe-Javakheti regional football federation, Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti regional federation, South Ossetia’s football federation.
33 delegates were invited at congress, those are the following: Giorgi Arevadze (“Sioni” Bolnisi), Giorgi Aghdgomelidze (South Ossetia’s football federation), Teimuraz Barkaia (“Kolkheti, Poti), Ruslan Bakradze (Invalid’s football liga), Shota Bakradze (Yard football association), Akaki Birbichadze (Association of football schools), Jemal Gogia (Samegrelo- Zemo Svaneti’s RFF), Giorgi Darjania (Footstal Association), Merab Dgebuadze (Abkhazia football federation), Avtandil Tadumadze (“Samtredia”), Vakhtang Tamazashvili (Tbilisi football federation), Tamaz Tevdoradze (Professional Football League), Giorgi Kikacheishvili (Imereti RFF), Ilia Kokaia (“Zestaponi), Tamaz Kosalashvili (“Olimpi”, Rustavi), Sergo Kotrikadze (Professional Union of Georgian Football), Gela Maisuradze (Samtskhe-Javakheti RFF), Irakli Nakaidze (“Beach Soccer” association), Revaz Pertaia (“Mglebi” Zugdidi), Vaja Zvania (Veteran footballers’ association), Aleksandre Revazishvili (Shida Kartli RFF), Davit Samushia (“Wit-Georgia”, Tbilisi), Dimitri Sanakoev (“Spartaki”, Tskhinvali), Nino Sordia (Women’s Football Federation), Tengiz Turzeladze (Mtskheta-Mtianeti RFF), Roman Pipia (“Dinamo” Tbilsi) Levan Pkhakadze (“Torpedo”, Kutaisi), Levan Koridze (Adjara Football federation), Ermile Chitaladze (Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti RFF), Karlo Chkhaidze (Kvemo Kartli RFF), Khariton Chkhartishvili (Guria RFF), Giorgi Tsintsadze (Kakheti RFF). Only 30 delegates came to congress and all off them supported to his candidate.
He did not represent any program, in fact he even did not have election campaign. He talked about priorities of federation.
“The first priority must be national team. Maybe we have not done much, but the best thing was Ketsbaia’s appointment. The second priority is national championship. If its level does not grow.. We made first necessary things.. The Pkhakadze came in “Torpedo”, Pipia in “Dinamo”, “Madneuli” in “Sioni”. We have to find people who love football. Now about infrastructure, since 2010 we own stadium named after Mikheil Meskhi. UEFA will play big role in its reconstruction. In March a lot of thing will be solved in UEFA and in 2012 we will have such stadiums, where will be held not only Georgian championship, these stadiums will host Euro tournaments. “Kartu” company helps us to build base of Georgian National Team “Basa”. Situation is difficult in regions. It is planned to built National Women team’s base in Telavi with UEFA support. As for children’s football, for its popularization child should be able to change 5-6 clubs”.
In 2011 we will start to give license to football schools and FIFA will help those clubs which will make investments in football schools. There is no children’s insurance. In 2011-2012 we are going to insure all the players in Supreme and first leagues. There were 32 000 football players during Soviet system and now 17 000. Unfortunately, being referee is very unpopular in Georgia. Referee’s Academy was closed and we have to restore it. We have to increase referees’ salary and make this profession more prestige. As far as you know GFF singed agreement with “Socar” for negotiations and if you support me, I promise that I will continue searching new companies for helping Georgian football. Our debts will not reflect on Georgian football. In 2010 government gave us money and its enough for National and age teams. We have good relations with UEFA-FIFA, in March will be presidential election in UEFA and we will support to Michel Platini”.
Sichinava was appointed in this position when Akhalkatsi resigned in 2009, now he was elected for four years.
