Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team won only one license at the international tournament in Sofia. Yesterday, Zurab Datunashvili gained license in 74kg. Today, Sandro Dikhaminjia and Sergo Gogisvanidze (96kg and 120kg) wrestled on the mat and they could gain neither license nor prize.
Dikhaminjia started participation from the second circle and beat Marcin Oleinichak of Poland in two sets but in ¼ final he lost to Georgios Kutsiumpa of Greece. Kutsiumpa could not go through final and Georgian could not wrestle in repechage.
Gogisvanidze needed one victory for London – in semifinal he lost to future champion Iuri Patrikeev of Armenia. Before this match he defeated Roco Daniele Ficara of Italy and Alin Alexus-Tsiurariu of Romania. In “bronze final”, Gogisvanidze lost to Ksenopon Kutsiumpa of Greece and finally took the fifth place.
Ta-Yuan (China) will host license tournament of London Olympic Games on April 27-29. Helsinki, capital of Finland, will host it on May 4-6. 3-3 best wrestlers of each weight class will gain license in China and only finalists – in Finland.
The team of Begi Darchia has guaranteed licenses only in two from seven weight classes: in 66 and 74kg.
