Davit Marsagishvili Becomes European Champion

 

 

2012 European Free-style wrestling championship ended with anthem of Georgia (but surprisingly with an old anthem). Davit Marsagishvili wrestler in 84 kg weight category gained gold medal, he deserved it so much that nothing was left to say by critics.
Marsagishvili started championship with beating Macedonian Dane Bogdanov. There were 27 sportsmen in 84kg weight category.5 of them started competition in 1/8final. As for davit Marsasgishvili he was among 22 sportsmen, but he did not come across any difficulties in overcoming 1/16final, he won Bugdanov in two sets - 1:0.3:0. Then afterwards he beat Romanian Georgita Stefan-6:0, 3:1. In semi-final he beat Turkish Serdar Boke in two sets, he gained 9 points.  
In final he wrestled against Mikhail Petrov, who beat Anzor Urishev one of the favorites of championship, which beat Marsagisshvili due to unfair referring in final at European championship last year.
In decisive fight Marsagishvili gained one-one point two times and kept superiority.
Georgian team gained 52 points and took the second place, Russia overtook Georgian team with 8 points. Bulgarians took the 3rd place with 49 points. Tomorrow Greco-Romans start wrestling this following tournament. On March 10 champions and prize winners will be found out in 55, 60, 96 and 120 kg weight categories, on March 11 -66, 74 and 84 kg weight categories. Georgian team represents experimental staff at European championhip. Begi Darchi took these following sportsmen: Kemal Kharabadze (55kg), Irakli Chochua (60kg), Revaz Lashkhi (66kg), Manucharr Tskhadaia (74kg), Vladimer Gegeshidze (84kg), Soso Jabidze (96kg) and Guram Perselidze (120kg).
On the first day of Kharabadze wrestles against Belarusian Elbek Taziev in 1/8final. Chochua starts European championship in 1/16final against british Terens Christopher Boson. These following sportsmen wrestlers in 96 and 120 weight categories start championship from the first round: Jabidze wrestles against Belarusian Timafey Dzeinichenka and Perselidze-Latvian Igors Cotins.
