“Panionios” took the 10th place in Greek Super League. Davit Kvirkvelia 30-year-old Georgian midfielder joined the club in January. He played 10 matches, did not score any goal but assisted goal.
“World Sport” connected to Kvirkvelua, who has holiday and that’s why he is in Tbilisi now.
- Strange country, strange environment – how did you adapt Greek championship?
- These months were successful for me. At the beginning I had visa problem and could not manage to arrive in Greece in time. But in spite of this I signed an agreement and started playing in the main staff.
- You did not have practice in “Rubin” and now you have it in “Panionios”, so this transfer is progress of your career.
- Yes, that is right. I wanted to have practice and “Panionis” gave me this chance. No matter however strong club I play in, if I do not have practice it does not mean anything…
- How would you estimate your playing?
- I think my playing is normal. We lost last match against “Ergotelis” (0:4), before this we had unbeatable serie of 10 matches. Maybe we had drawn most of them but we had not loose any matches. Press also was estimating me well, but I could play much better. I always criticize myself.
- What was your position in “Panionios”?
- Once or twice I played as midfielder and as usual I play as left-wing defender.
- You played in Russian Premier League for 4 years and how would you estimate Russian and Greek championship?
- Russian championship is better. I even do not compare them. “Olimpiakos” and “Panatinaikos” are distinguished in Greece, AEK and PAOK are also good teams but as for Russia, there are a lot of good clubs.
- The main staff of the club is quite strong. Costas Mitruglu leading player of Greek National Team also plays in this club..
- The main staff is really quite strong. In winter “Paninios” transferred Mitroglu as well as Czech Vatslav Sverkos. Head coach is also very strong and there is good atmosphere in the team. When I joined the club it was outsider, we did our best and managed to advance.
- When you belonged to “Dinamo” Tbilisi you played against “Panionios” at UEFA Cup 2004. Did they remind you this match?
- Yes, they did. They asked me if I participated in this match. But the managing board of “Panionis” was another then.
- It is known that Greek fans are very active, what about fans of “Panionios”?
- They are also very noisy and active.
- When does your agreement expire?
- In a year.
- Are you going to change the club?
- I do not think about it yet.
- What about Georgian National Tea. You did not play against Croatia and played the second half against Israel.
- I did not play against Croatia, but I saw that the coach and the players did their best. We won this match on expanse of big determination. And as for Israel, one mistake changed everything. It was pitiful loose. But main thing is that we have progress and we should keep going like that.
- How the Greek estimate Georgian National Team and chances of going through the final stage?
- After beating Croatian team, Georgian team became strong rival for them. The point difference is not big and there is a chance.

- It would be great if this match decides shall we go though the group or not, I hope it will be so.
