Another Success of Tsomaia

 

Women chess players have a day off at World Senior Championship. Only Sergo Tsomaia (1859) played from the Georgians.

The Georgian chess player is No.179 seed but competes successfully. He earned 5.5 points and is in the 32nd place.

In the previous round Tsomaia beat Christian Hess of Germany (2285).

In the 10th round the Georgian chess player will face Bjorn Brinck-Claussen of Denmark (2248). Anatoly Vaisser of France (2523) is leading the championship with 7.5 points.

Three Georgian women chess players are participating in the tournament. After 8 rounds Tamar Khmiadashvili (2158) and Nona Gaprindashvili (2312) have 5.5-5.5 points and are in the second and the fifth places. Nino Melashvili (2126) is in the 10th place with 4.0 points.

In the next round Gaprindashvili will play Tatiana Bogumil of Russia (2074), Khmiadashvili – Elena Fatalibekova of Russia (2252) and Melashvili – Hannelore Hoose of Germany (1740).
