Closing for 2010 and Opening for 2011Season

On December 22-23, Judo Academy hosts Georgian Greco-Roman Championship. It would hold in January. This year champions and prize-winners were found out at the beginning of the year, but International Wrestling Federation settled qualifying round of European Championship month later in March and that’s why Georgian championship will be held the second time in this season.   This tournament will close 2010 season and will open 2011 one.
On December 22, champions will be found out in four weight categories – 55, 60, 66 and 74. On December 23 in 84, 96 and 120 weight categories.
Participation in Georgian championship is compulsory for each member of National Team. He who will miss Georgian Championship without serious reason automatically will not have right to compete at European championship. The same was happened in last championship and due to it only Giorgi Gogshelidze, Revaz Mindorashvili and Otar Tushishvili did not compete at Georgian championship. Gogshelidze could not compete due to injury, but supposedly he will compete at European championship. Mindorashvili and Tushishvili will continue fight for returning National team in Summer, at Tbilisi traditional international tournament, which is considered as a qualifying round of world championship.   
According to the latest information, most classic wrestlers will wrestle. Only Genadi Gogishvili (74 kg) and Soso Jabidze (96 kg) a bronze medal winner at European championship will not compete at championship.  Gogishvili injured hand at the tournament named after Oleg Karavaev and still treating. As for Jabidze, he suffers from leg injury.
Ramaz Nozadze (96 kg) European and World Champion returns to active sport after long pause. At last he recovered and still will fight for leadership at his weight category.  According to preliminary information, he maybe will not be able to lose weight and fight in heavier weight category. It is not decided yet. But it is clear that European, World and Olympic champion  Manuchar Kvirkvelia will wrestle in 84 weight category. In the future he will also return to his usual weight category – 74 kg.
Georgian wrestling federation took the following mistakes which were made at last championship under consideration and for improving organizational terms they made several important changes. According to Malkhaz Jorbenadze a general secretary of federation, there will be 20 security men, 3 referees are invited from Armenia. Preliminary matches start at 11:00.
