Georgian Nino Batsiashvili (2381) beat Polish Jolanta Zavadska (2405) in the last round of World Universiade 2011. Nino earned 6.5 points which was enough for taking the fifth place.
The last day of Universiade was successful for other Georgian chess players too. Maka Purtseladze (2364) beat Russian Karina Ambartsumova (2303). Sophiko Guramishvili (2329) won over Brazilian Ana Roberta (2062). Purtseladze took the 10th place with 6.0 points. Guramishvili took the 19th place with 5.5 points.
Chinese Zhong Tan (2396) became champion at girls’ tournament. Like Mongolian Batkhuyag Munguntuul (2457) and Chinese Kian Huang (2404), Zhong collected 7.0 points but she had better additional data.
Boys’ Universiade has Chinese champion. Chao Li (2669) won 8 rounds from 9. He played one draw. He was 2 (!) points ahead of Hao Wang (2718) and Yu Wang (2709).
Georgian chess players ended up playing in top 20. Luka Paichadze (2489) took the 14th place with 6.0 points. Davit Benidze (2514) took the 17th place with 5.5 points.
