Georgian women’s chess team held previous two rounds of Istanbul Olympiad without victory and lost chance of taking prize places. No.3 seed Georgian team played draw with Serbia (19) in the 8^th round. In the 9^th round the Georgians lost to Azerbaijan (27) 1.5:2.5 and is in the 24^th place with 11 points.

Failure of Bela Khotenashvili (2509) turned out decisive against Azerbaijan. Bela replaced Nana Dzagnidze (2547) on the first board but she lost to Zeinab Mamedyarova (2285).

In the 10^th round the Georgian chess players will play against No.28 seed Vietnamese team which has 11 points. Chinese team is very close to becoming champion. It is in the 1^st place with 16 points. Russia is in the second place with 15 points.

After playing draw with India in the 9^th round, Georgian men’s team earned 12 points and is in the 18^th place. China, Russia, Armenia and the USA are leading with 15-15 points. Georgia will play against Israel in the upcoming round.
