Beach wrestling tournament finished in one day instead of two days due to bad weather. Due to raining Saturday’s matches were delayed for Sunday and finally organizers managed to find out champions and price winner in elder age groups. According to regulations of beach wrestling, champions and prize winners were found out in four weight categories: 70, 80, 90 and +90.
“According to preliminary information Turkish and Armenian sportsmen also wanted to take part in this tournament. Wrestling federations of these following countries showed initiative and Georgian side also sent them invitations, but finally they could not manage to come. There were 50 participants in this tournament from different part of Georgia (Ozurgeti, Batumi, Kutaisi, Tbilisi). Giorgi Lobjanidze became champion in 70 weight category, Gela Saghirashvili – 80 kg, Zviad Metreveli – 90 kg, Giorgi Gogrichiani - +90. On July 14-18 these four wrestlers will represent Georgia at World Championship. We have right to represent three-three participants in each weight categories” – stated Malkhaz Jorbenadze general secretary of National Wrestling Federation to “World Sport”.
 Georgian wrestlers are to participate in one beach wrestling tournament before World Championship. On May 28-29 Italy hosts international beach wrestling tournament. Vephkhvia Jijavadze and Shorena Sharadze are financed by Ministry of Sports of Adjara, will represent Georgia at this tournament.
