Cadets Started with Gold-Silver

Champions and prize winners of three weight classes were found out at Cadet European Judo Championship which is underway in the city of Malta, Cottonera. Two members of Georgian team went through the final. Vano Mamisashvili became champion in 55 kg. Tamaz Kirakozashvili (60 kg) lost the final and won silver medal.

Mamisashvili beat Russian Shapi Surakatov, British Samuel Hals, Azerbaijani Elbrus Zamanov and Ukrainian Oleksandr Yemchenko. Georgian judoka won over Azerbaijani Iskander Talishinskiy in the final.

Another Georgian Bachana Bolkvadze (55 kg) lost in 1/8 final. Before this match, Bolkvadze had one victory – he beat Romanian Bogdan Pop.

Kirakozashvili beat 5 opponents: Hungarian Erik Kormanyos, British Aiden Moffat, Romanian Richard Bardocz, French Wilhelm Cherel and Azerbaijani Rashad Bufullayev. In the decisive match, he lost against Russian Eldar Gazimagomedov by yuko. Jumber Chikhiashvili wrestled in this weight class but he won over only one opponent Moldovan Gheorghe Gabun and lost against Slovenian Adrian Gomboc.

The only Georgian – Zviad Khubuluri wrestled in 50 kg. He lost against Dutch Glen Koper in the first circle.

Tomorrow, champions and prize winners will be found out in 66 and 73 kg. Apolon Zurabiani, Giorgi Muzashvili (66 kg), Beka Dongvani and Levan Gugava (73 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia.

Four girls are in Georgian delegation and all of them will wrestle tomorrow. Guranda Shotadze and Mariam Tsikhelashvili will wrestle in 52 kg, Mariam Janashvili – in 57 kg and Ani Mindiashvili – in 63 kg.
