Bronze Medal on the First Day

 

Georgian wrestlers won only one medal on the first day of European Youth Championship which is underway in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. Jumber Kvelashvili (74kg) showed himself. He won bronze medal. Kvelashvili defeated Draugelis of Lithuania and Dudarov of Germany. In semifinal, he lost to Ozmen of Turkey. Jumber wrestled against Uta of Romania for the third place.

Omar Gusoshvili (96kg) was close to medal. He beat Mourantidis of Greece and Baran of Poland. In semifinal, he could not win Harbunou of Belarus. Unfortunately, Gusoshvili lost bronze medal to Gamidov of Azerbaijan.

Champions of two weight classes were found out yesterday. Beka Bujiashvili lost to Arakelian of Ukraine and as the Ukrainian lost semifinal, Beka could not wrestle in repechage. Levan Kelekhsashvili was to wrestle in 60kg but he is not in the tournament draw on the official website of the championship.

Today, last four champions will be found out. Lasha Talakhadze (55kg) will wrestle against Gazimagomedov of Russia. Konstantine Khabalashvili (66kg) will wrestle against Vaskan of Moldova, Sandro Aminashvili (84kg) – against Edon of Kosovo and Geno Petriashvili (120kg) – against Kushkov of Ukraine.
