In the second round of 18th European Team Championships was successful for both Georgian national teams. Women’s team won over Poland 2.5:1.5 and as a result their team is among leaders as for men’s team they celebrated the first victory over Cyprus – 4:0.
As far as you know, in the first round Georgians beat Azerbaijani team with the same score. It is remarkable that Nino Khurtsidze as well as Lela Javakhishvili won two matches in a row, this time Nazi Paikidze lost, leader of the team Nana Dzagnidze won the first match and played draw in the second one.
Georgian women’s team gained 4 points and with Serbia, Russia, Ukraine and Romania is leader of this tournament, which is underway in the city of Greece, Porto Carras. In the third round Georgian chess players will play against Serbians.
After unexpected lost in the first round, Georgian men’s team won over Cyprus. Badaur Jobava who missed the first round match won the second round match, as well as Levan Pantsulaia, Mikheil Mchedlishvili and Merab Gagunashvili.
Their next rival is Scott team. As for leaders, Romania, Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan and Spain are leading the tournament. European Team Championship contains 9 rounds and finishes on November 11.
