Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team took the third place at the international tournament named after Olympic champion (1960) Oleg Karavaev. The tournament was held in Minsk.
“Our team was in the subgroup with Ukrainian, Moldovan, Russian and second Belarusian teams. We defeated Ukrainians and Belarusians 4:3, Moldovans – 5:2 but lost to Russians. I do not the score. After taking the second place in the group round, Georgians wrestled against Kazakhstan and won over it 4:3”, - Malkhaz Jorbenadze, general secretary of Georgian Wrestling Federation, told “World Sport”.
Georgian team competed in the Karavaev tournament with the following sportsmen: Lasha Gogitadze (55 kg), Revaz Lashkhi (60 kg), Archil Turmanidze, Lasha Lolashvili (66 kg), Manuchar Tskhadaia (74 kg), Vladimer Gegeshidze (84 kg), Soso Jabidze (96 kg) and Shota Gogisvanidze (120 kg).
