Before Batumi World Championship...

 

Regulations for Women’s World Chess Championship (in rapid and blitz) which will take place from May 31 to June 6 in Batumi are published on official website of Association of Chess Professionals. Prize money of both championships is 100 000 USD. Winner of rapid will gain 12 000 USD and champion of blitz – 10 000 USD.

In case of a tie for the first place, the tie-break will be played among the two players. In case of a tie for the second and third places, the medals will be awarded based on the Median Buchholz.

Rapid-tournament will be held from May 31 to June 3 with 11 rounds. Blitz tournament will be held on June 4-5 with 15 rounds. Time control is: rapid – 25 minutes+10 seconds, blitz – 4 minutes+2 seconds. Zero tolerance rule will not be applied.

Right of participation: chess players with the Elo of 2500 and over (official rating list of FIDE), world Champions and Olympic champions.

Every national federation can nominate one player with any Elo and 5 players with Elo of 2300 and over.

All participants should confirm their participation not later than May 1.

Giorgi Giorgadze, president of Georgian Chess Federation, is a director of World Championship. Georgian Chess Federation will get three additional wild cards as a host of the event.
The following Georgian chess players have personal right for participation in the championship: Nona Gaprindashvili, Maia Chiburdanidze, Nana Aleksandria, Nana Ioseliani, Nino Gurieli, Nana Dzagnidze, Lela Javakhishvili, Sophiko Khukhashvili and Maia Lomineishvili.
