Maybe a lot of young people do not know that basketball club “Dinamo” has the one of the best history in Europe, not to say anything about Georgia. This team won Europe Champions Cup (1961-62), finalist of Champions Cup (1959-60) and Cup Winners’ Cup (1968-69). Four times “Dinamo” won the Soviet Union Championship, the Soviet Union Cup and many times Champion of Georgia.
Unfortunately, the team which has such history was in a very difficult condition and used to participate in national championship symbolically.  In spite of problems, “Dinamo” still exists and it is merit of Davit Tortladze, head coach of the team and former member of National Team. Maybe it is surprising but “Tortla” was released from the team by the new authority of the club. But new owner of the club “Bank of Georgia” again appointed him as head coach of the club and is going to create new team. 
There is offered interview wit Tortladze head coach of “Dinamo”, who talks about recent and future plans of the club.
- What was the reason of your release from the club?
- For two years “Dinamo” was playing without sponsorship. I gather the team with my own initiative now and started preparation for the new 2011-12 season. After 20 days, on September 15 , old authority of the club announced the club as disbanded. I became unemployed but I did not say anything- I am not such type person to start begging.
- What did they say, what was the reason of it?
- They said that they would not prolong contract and nothing more.
- How did you return to “Dinamo”?
- After 10-12 days, new managing board of “Dinamo” called me and appointed me as head coach of the club again.
- Dudu DadiaNI Memorial starts tomorrow. “Dinamo” will compete at this tournament too. What is your goal?
- The team is under formation process. According to it, I cannot say that we will fight for the first place. Our goal at this tournament will be formation of the club.
- What kind of staff will play at this tournament?
- Now, Lado Sukhishvili (MIA), Irakli Kedia, Plaside Rodumta, Soso Lezhava (three of them TSSU), Giorgi Markhvashvili (TSU), Kirile Tvauri, Giga Khekhrishvili, Nugzar Abuladze (three of them “Dinamo”), Duda Sanadze (without club), Giorgi Gamkrelidze and Nika Tskitishvili members of national team are training for “Dinamo”. We will add some prospective players to the club, but it does not mean that everyone will stay in the club. After ending Dudu Dadiani Memorial, the main staff of the team will be named.
- What about future plans of “Dinamo”?
- Due to the reasons mentioned above, we gathered late and that’s why we have not defined our plans yet. We are going to create good team in the future and will do our best to give back past glorify to “Dinamo”.
