Baadur Jobava (2704) Georgian grand master gathered 5.5 points in 9 rounds of “Aeroflot” chess festival and according to additional points took the 19th place. Mateusz Bartel (Poland, 2658) became champion with 6.5 points.
In final match Jobava played draw with Fabiano Caruana (Italy, 2736) and as a result he lost chance of being in top ten. In group A, Georgian chess player Nazi Paikidze (2411) gained only 1.5 points and won the bobby prize among 85 participants. As for Meri Arabidze (2358), she took the 105th place with 3.5 place in group B.
It is newsworthy that Bartel won 20 000 EUR from 125 000 EUR, which was prize money of the tournament. As for Jobava, he won 700 EUR.
On February 16 is held blitz tournament at “Aeroflot Open”, prize money of it is 25 000 EUR. Jobava will play at this following tournament.
