Auto Racing Was Held in Mtskheta

Today, on October 17, auto racing "Rompetrol Season 2010" among professionals and amateurs was held in Mtskheta.
Racing started in Mtskheta, in the area of amphitheater. First competition was held among professionals (14 racers). Later, amateurs participated in racing (35 racers). Automobile Federation gave those amateurs opportunity to participate in it who already have a licence released by the federation.
Especially for this day, "Rompetrol Georgia" increased prize money and 1 000 liters of fuel was for champion. After the competition fuel was distributed among professionals and amateurs.
Unlike yesterday, today professional racers had a lucky day and the weather was sunny. The competition was held well and many people attended it.
As for amateur racers, when they started racing weather got worse but the competition was not canceled.
According to Aleksandre Albin, general director of "Rompetrol Georgia", the company welcomed popularization of autosport and he is always ready to encourage those people who will participate in auto racings. "Rompetrol Georgia" actively supports autosport and has been helping Automobile Federation to regenerate it for 3 years. "We are glad that "Rompetrol Georgia" played a great role in development of autosport. Successes of professionals encourage us to give a chance to amateurs to participate in such tournaments which was held in Mtskheta. Especially for this competition, "Rompetrol" added 1 ton fuel to prize money", - Albin stated it yesterday.
It was stated at the tournament that it would be better if other sponsors financed autosport and Georgian sportsmen would have a chance to compete in international tournaments.
Mevlud Meladze, president of Georgian Automobile Federation: "Auto racing was held in Mtskheta for the first time this year. It is a good place because here are asphalt, gravel and mud. Rustavi highway is for circular competition. Professionals and amateurs participate in pairs here. Also, car which reaches finish is visible here".
"Rompetrol Georgia" is general sponsor of autosport since 2008. The company provides racers with fuel and awards winners.
