Georgian 1/8 final will take place at tennis tournament in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Oksana Kalashnikova (her rank is 7) will hold a match with Sopo Shapatava.
Shapatava beat Austrian Nikola Hopmanova 5:7, 6:4, 6:4 in the first round. Kalashnikova beat Kazakh Daria Berejnaia 6:0, 6:0 without losing even one game.
Georgian tennis players have already met each other twice and Kalashnikova won both matches. In 2009 Oksana beat Sopo 7:6 (9:7), 6:4 in 1/16 final at Telavi tournament and 4:6, 6:3, 6:2 at Tbilisi championship.
Tatia Mikadze will play against Russian Evgenia Rodina in 1/8 final at Astana tournament. She also beat Russian Marta Sirotkina 7:5, 7:5.
Unfortunately, Ekaterine Gorgodze is left beyond the tournament. She was beat by Russian Daria Kuchmina 5:7, 5:7.
In couples tournament Mikadze and Shapatava beat Kazakh Dias and Uzbek Khabibulina 4:6, 6:4, 10:4 and they will play against Ukrainians - Fedak and Vasileva in quarter final.
Duet of Kalashnikova and Russian Panova (rank 3) beat Jewish Masur and French Pikion 7:5, 6:1. In the second round they will meet Russians - Pashkova and Rodina who beat Gorgodze and Uzbek Shapirova 6:4, 6:3.
Georgian best tennis player Ana Tatishvili celebrated her first victory at Odlum Brown Vancouver Open in Canada. In the couples Tatishvili and American Lilia Osterlo (rank 2) beat American duet (Gibs - Rogers) 6:1, 6:0 and Canadian Abanda and Buchard will be their opponents in quarter final.
In the first round of units tournament Geil Brodsk, one of the winners of qualifying tournament, will be opponent of Ana. A 20-year old Tatishvili is in the 148th place of rating. A 19-year old American is in the 647th place.
Brodsk beat his compatriot Eija Muhamed (rank 2, the 353th place in rating) 6:3, 6:4 in the qualifying round, then he beat Latvian Liga Dekmeier (757) 6:4, 6:4 and he easily defeated American Amanda Fink (563) 6:1, 6:4.
Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili participates in a 10 000-tournament in Dekatur, city of the state Illinois, USA. In the couples tournament Basilashvili and Russian Petukhov were beat by Jenkins and Paul 2:6, 1:6. American Danis Nevolo will be opponent of Nikoloz (rank 6) at the tournament of units.
