“Armia”, champion of Georgia, held the fourth round game of FIBA EuroChallenge in Germany and won over local “Gottingen” 69:61.
After the first quarter, players of Kote Tugushi advanced with 15 points. At the beginning of the third quarter, they were winning with 20 points though the end of the game turned out tense.
In spite of that, Georgian club added two legionaries before this game, “Armia” relied on the same basketball players against “Gottingen”. These basketball players looked tired at the end of the game and made mistakes.
Half minute before the final sirena, “Gottingen” minimized score to 5 points though in the rest of the time, William Thomas and Irakli Sakvarelidze used 5 free throws from 6 and champion of Georgia did not let lose chance of winning the game.
Thomas scored 12 points, 13 rebounds and made double doubles, like Swedish center Joakim Kjellbom. Joakim earned 11 points and 10 rebounds. In spite of that, Jeremy Richardson was the best among the guests. He scored 5 3 points from 6 and overall earned 23 points.
Sundiata Gaines was less productive. He will leave “Armia” soon due to the end of lockout in NBA. American basketball player used 4 throws from 13 and scored 110 points, though he made 6 assists.
One bad news. Guillermo Diaz, legionary of “Armia” from Puerto-Rico, got injury. He played for 06:49 minutes. Then, he got injury and left the arena with the help of medical personnel. Before that, Diaz used both throws…
We have mentioned new players of “Armia”. Clifton Hawkins was in the list but he did not play yesterday. Matthew Fray, basketball player of Lebanese team, participatd in the game. American basketball player born in North Dakota played for 07:52 minutes but he missed all four throws and earned only two rebounds.
“Armia” celebrated the third victory in four rounds and is in the second place in Group B. “Besiktas” Istanbul is in the first place. The team defeated Dutch “Leiden” 76:69.
The next game of “Armia” will be held on December 6 in Tbilisi. The team will play against “Besiktas” and in case of victory, “Armia” will make through the next round. In case of failure, everything will be decided in the game against “Leiden” on December 13.
