Georgian chess player Meri Arabidze (2379) is among those three players who have chance of winning World U-20 Chess Championship. Athens, the capital of Greece, is hosting the mentioned tournament. Arabidze is the only Georgian who is playing for medal.

10 rounds are held at the tournament. Three girls are leading with 7.5-7.5 points: 1. Qi Guo (China, 2358), 2. Deysi Cori (Peru, 2413), 3. Meri Arabidze.

In the previous round Georgian chess player played draw with Guo. In the 11^th round Meri will play against Cori. As for Nani Unapkoshvili (2011), she has 4.5 points and is in the 41^st place.

130 chess players are participating in boys’ tournament. Georgians do not have good result. Dimitri Kvaratskhelia (2093) is in the 99^th place with 4.0 points. Shalva Nadirashvili (2151) is in the 108^th place with 3.5 points.

World Junior Chess Championships are based on Swiss system and will end up on August 15.
