At World Junior U-20 Chess Championships, which is underway in the capital of Greek, were held the second round matches. As far as you know, Meri Arabidze (2379) champion of U—18 world championships 2011 is the main hope of Georgian delegation in Greece. She justified expectations and she is among leaders.
In the second round Arabidze beat Bakht Kulkam of India (2159) with black pieces and advanced with the maximum points with other 12 participants. In the next round Meri plays against Pole Claudia Kulon (2259) with white pieces. Nani Unapkoshvili (2011) another Georgian female participant in this tournament beat Tuzi Bruna of Albania (1546) with white pieces and as a result now she is in the 39th place with 1.0 point. On august, Nani plays against Indian Nkritika Pon (2119) with black pieces.
At boys’ tournament Dimitri Kvaratskhelia (2093) beat Australian Andrew Brown (2296) with white pieces and took the 78th with 1.0 point, Shalva Nadirashvili (2151) lost with Azerbaijani Ulvi Bayrani (2446) with black pieces and he is in the 96th place with 130 participants. In the upcoming round Kvarsatskhelia plays against Nikolas Grandadam (2333) with black pieces, Nadirashvili (2151) against Greek Teodoros Panagoss (1768) with white pieces.
World Junior Championships are based on Swiss system. The last round will be held on August 15. August 9 is a day-off.
