Arabidze Advanced, Bokuchava Makes Sensations

 

Bela Khotenashvili (2490), rating-favorite of the tournament, lost the first game at Georgian Women’s Chess Championship. She lost to Nazi Paikidze (2406) with black pieces. Now Meri Arabidze (2337) is leading the tournament. She played draw with Inga Charkhalashvili (2334) with white pieces.

Madona Bokuchava (2058) continues surprising fans. She defeated Salome Melia (2400), champion of Georgia 2010, and is in the 4th place with 3.5 points. Madona has the lowest ranking at the tournament.

Sopho Guramishvili (2395) celebrated her first victory over Nino Batsiashvili (2438). Other two games ended up draws. Today, there is a day off at the championship. The 7th round games will be held on May 5.
