As far as you know on April 17-21, besides Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Montenegro, Norway, South Africa, Turkmenistan, Georgian national women’s team also will compete at Federation Cup, in the II zone of Euro-African division in Cairo (Egypt). Tatishvili and other members of Georgian team – Sofo Shapatava and Sofiko Kvatsabaia also will represent Georgia at this following tournament.
After finishing mentioned sparring, “World Sport” talked with Anna Tatishvili.
- This year, as member of Top100 you have competed at several solid tournaments. How would you summarize your competitions at these tournaments?
- Some strange bacteria was found out in my organism in December, 2011. That’s why I was feeling sick, I could not show my possibilities and that’s why I am dissatisfied with my results.
- How do you feel now?
- I have just recovered and now I feel well.
- Which tournament was distinguished this year for you?
- The tournament where I beat Paszek was more distinguished for me than others. I was unhappy when I lost the second set with Wozniacki. I had less chance to defeat Wozniacki, but in spite of being sick, I had a big superiority in the second set and that’s why this failure was so pitiful for me.
- It is often said that entering in top 100 is easier than keeping place in it. Do you agree with this opinion?
- No one can achieve anything easily in tennis nowadays. There is a big competition.
- As far as we know, you are delightful to compete at London Olympics.
- On June 11 ranking will be declared which will name participants for London Olympics. According to regulations, top 56 players will be able to compete at Olympic Games. Each country can represent 4 sportsmen. Some leading tennis players do not compete at Olympic Games and some countries have more than four players in top 56 and according to it I will be able to participate in this tournament.
- If you manage to compete at London Olympic, it will be your career peak…
- Yes, it will be. It is proud for me to represent Georgia at London Olympic Games. It can be said that I will continue my family tradition.
- What do you mean?
- Maybe a lot of people do not know, that an outstanding Georgian athlete, Elene Gokieli participant of Helsinki (Finland) Olympic Games 1952, sport honored master is my father’s aunt, so my grandmother.
- Your weakest point is serving and frequent double mistake. You are supposed to have special trainings focused on it. Do you have any progress?
- Of course I am focused on improving serve and I have a progress.
- Next week you start competition at Federation Cup with Georgian team. What about our chances?
- If Wozniacki plays in Danish team, it will increase its chances. That’s why I cannot say anything in advance. Everything will be clear after finding out the main staffs of the teams.
- How realistic is entering top 50 in the nearest future for you?
- This year my goal is entering top 50 and I will do my best for it.
