An Only Bronze at Grand Slam

 

According to reality in Georgian judo, only optimists can call successful to competition of Georgian national judo team at Grand Slam, which was underway in the capital of France, Paris. Georgian team which had optimal staff at this following tournament managed to win only one bronze medal. Georgian judoka Amiran Papinashvili (60 kg) who is in the sixth place in world ranking won bronze medal at Grand Slam. It happened yestreday and as fpr today, only Varlam Liparteliani succeed, he went through 1/4final. 
Liparteliani started competititon since the third circle and beat his Pole rival K.Veglarz. Then he beat Kazakh A. Lasachev, but finally lost with Ashley Ginsales of Cuba. As a result he took the fifth place and gained 60 points.
In this weight category Zurab Zviadauri's competition at this tournament was caused big attention among judo fans. A week before Olympic champion returned to active sport with gaining bronze medal at Tbilisi World Cup. But as for French Grand Slam, he could not manage to suceed. He started competition from the second circle and could not manage to beat Molngolian Enkhbat Erdenebileg, who was prepared better in tactic and had better physical condition. 
Such final was logical to Zurab Zviadauri, because he is far from his desirable condition. But the same cannot be said about Levan Zhorzholiani. Georgian sportsman who is in the 13th place in world ranking in 100 kg weight category started and finished Grand Slam with the match against Xose Armentero of Cuba.
Avtandil Chrikashvili (81 kg) stayed beyond the tournament due to pittiful failure in 1/8final with Kazakh Islam Bozbaev. Georgian champion of Tbilisi World Cup managed to beat only one rival - Mongolian Tuvshiniargal Gan.
Adam Okruashvili and Zviad Khanjaliashvili held two-two matches. After beating Muhameb Motie of Egypt in the first circle, Okruashvili lost with Dutch Luce Verbig in two minutes and half. As for Khanjaliashvili, he started competition since 1/16final and beat Spanish Anxel Paras, but could not manage to beat Uzbek Abdulo Tangriev.
Georgian national team took the 13th place amonf 85 teams. Mongolian and Uzbek teams had the best results and they shared the first place. Host team took he third place. As far as you know, the strongest team of the world Japanese judo team did not participate in French tournament. Asians took experimental staff in Paris, but in spite of this they had better results than some other experienced teams.
