A Little Chance for Prize Place

 

The 10th day of Chess Olympiad was unsuccessful for both Georgian teams. Women’s team was in good condition after captain Nana Dzagnidze’s winning over Katherina Lanho. But Salome Melia playing with white pieces lost with Inna Gaponenko, Lela Javakhishvili and Sopho Khkhushvili drew and in a result of it the final result between Georgia and Ukraine was draw (2:2).
Now everything is depend on the last round. Acting Olympic Champion women’s team (owns15 points) needs to win in any case, but in case of victory they will not be in the top 3.
Georgians are on the 4th place according to additional showings and their next opponent is Pole National team which has the same 15 points. Pole team has beat Iceland (4:0), ICSC (3.5 : 0.5), Montenegro ( 3:1), Austria (4:0), Slovenia (2.5:1.5), Uzbekistan (4:0) and Armenia (3:1), they drew with Indonesia and lost with Bulgaria (1.5:2.5) and Hungary (0:4). Pole team consists of Monica Socko (2486), Yolanda Zavacka (2410), Yolanda Gaeska (2333), Joanna Dvorakovska (2315) and Beata Kadziolka (2295). Russian (1) team playes against Russian (2) team which is on the 5th place. Chinese team which is on the 2nd place with 16 points meets Ukrainian team (15 points, the third place). Georgian men’s team lost with Spain after loosing Spain 1:3 and in a result to it they are on the 18th place with 13 points. Baadur Jobava and Levan Pantsulaia lost and Merab Gagunashvili and Mikheil Mchedlishvili drew.

In the last round Georgian team plays against Indian team, which has 13 points and us on the 25th place. Indian team consists of Krishnan Sasikiran (2681), Pendyala Harikrishna (2645), Surya Shehar Ganguly (2650), Geetha Naraynan Gopal (2603) and Baskaran Adhiban (2516).
Indian team has 6 wins, one draw and 3 lost matches. They won over Walse (4:0), ICSC (3.5:0.5), Columbia (2.5:1.5), Bulgaria (3:1), Turkmenistan (3:1) and Switzerland (3:1), drew with Czech Republic, Russian (2) team (1:3), Azerbaijan (1:3) and Poland (1:3).
Before decisive day of championship Ukraine team is near golden medal, this team is a leader with 18 points. Ukrainian team plays against Israel team which is on the 3rd place with 16 points. As for Russian (1) team, they play against Spanish team.
Russian (1) team is on the first place with 37 points at Nona Gaphrindashvili Cup, Ukraine is on the 2nd place with 33 points, the followers are China (30), Poland (30), Russia (2) team (29) and Georgia (28).
Olympiad consists of 11 rounds and finishes on October 3, day off is on October 2.
