Georgian national rugby seven’s team won the second match in the first stage of European 7’s Grand Prix, which is underway in Lyon. After beating Holland 24:21, Kakha Alania’s player beat Ukraine 19:5.
Ukrainians started the match very actively but Georgian defenders did well and gained control over the ball. Irakli Gegenava started attack and Merab Kvirikashvili scored drop-kick and deserved a storm of applause from the spectators.
At the sixth minute Georgian team gained superiority in the right wing of the stadium, which finally ended with Chitadze’s try – 12:0.
At the beginning of the second period our rival scored the first try, Kalmakhelidze and Ghvinjilia could not manage to stop the rival. Soon, after 25-meters run Kvirkashvilis cored try and Georgians also kicked conversion very well. As a result the match ended in favor of Georgia – 19:5.
As for Holland, which lost the first match with Georgia, held the first period against Scotland very well but finally lost – 17:19. Kakha Alania’s players hold the third match against Spain, leader of the group, which beat Scotland in the first match 20:7. Now they play against England. The match between Spain and Georgia starts at 18:34 o’clock.
