5 Golds, 1 Silver, 6 Bronzes

At this weekend Georgian national youth judo team gained 12 medal at Europe Junior Cup, which was held in the city of Greece, Mudania (5 gold, one silver and 6 bronze medals). According to this result Georgian team took the second place, as for the first place Turkey took it. Results of boys and girls were taken in an account.  29 Georgian boys wrestled at traditional international tournament “Iliadis Cup” named after Jarji Zviadauri. Boys did well, as for girls the only female member of Georgian team Nona Merabashvili (57kg) wrestled and stayed beyond top 7.
Vazha Margvelashvili (60kg), Phridon Gigani (73kg), Tornike Otiashvili (90kg), Guram Tushishvili (100kg) and Levan Metreveli (+100kg) became champions. In heavy weight there was held Georgian final and Barcelona Olympic champion Davit Khakhaleishvili’s son- Rostom took the second place. As for bronze medal winners, those are the following: Mindia Golijashvili (55kg), Beka Tugushi, Andro Beruashvili (both of them 66kg), Beka Gviniashvili (81kg), Lasha Taveluri (90kg) and Giorgi Zakriadze (+100kg).

It was unexpected that Gviniashvili would stay without gold-silver. Gviniashvili managed to win all the titles and became bronze medal winner at World Championship, but at this tournament he lost chance of winning gold-silver medal at the beginning of the tournament. There were 18 participant counties at “Iliadis Cup”. Host country had the most number of sportsmen -79. As for Turkish team , it took 35 boys and girls in Greece.
