In case of becoming champions of London Olympic Games 2012, Georgian sportsmen will receive 2 million GEL. Neither National Olympic Committee nor Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has confirmed this information.

Peter Seisenbacher, head coach of Georgian judo team, made the first official statement about premium money. He stated about it in an interview with one of the Austrian websites. Seisenbacher stated that Georgian sportsmen would receive 2 million for London gold.

“World Sport” found out Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia, told one of the members of Georgian judo team that victory at Olympiad would be appreciated twice more than in Beijing in 2008. Four years ago Georgian champions were awarded with million GEL by the government.

Four months are left till London Olympic Games. A number of business and ceremonial meetings will be held before that. Perhaps, president of Georgia will make a statement about premium money at one of such events.
