Today at dawn Georgian Judo Youth Team leaves for Africa. On October 21-24 World Championship will be hosted by the city of Morocco, Agadir. A new coach of youth team Giorgi Gugava was appointed in this position before a month when Liparteliani left this post. Liparteliani was appointed as a head of Georgian National Judo Team by Georgian Judo Federation. In compare to European Championship which was underway in the city of Bulgaria, Samoko now teams will wrestle with 2-2 staff. Georgian team will be represented by 16-man squid. European Champions Oar Kedelashvili (55 kg) and Avtandil Chrikashvili (81 kg), silver medal winner Giorgi Nozadze (90 kg) are still in the main staff. Betkil Afrasidze (73 kg) and Mikheil Narimanidze are only sportsmen from the squid at Bulgarian tournament who will not participate in this competition. Other sportsmen will wrestle in their weight categories.
Giorgi Gugava made the following comment before leaving for Africa:” there is fighting mood in team. Players feel quite well. We held meeting before leaving for this tournament. Coaches are satisfied with sportsmen. Another will be shown at Championship”.
Georgian women’s team also will participate in this tournament, but only with one sportsman. Shorena Sharadze will wrestle in 63 weight category. She won bronze medal at Sambo World Championship which was underway in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.
Otar Kaidarishvili, Lukhum Chkhvimiani (both 55 kg), Giorgi Brolashvili and Shmagi Lagazauri (60 kg) will wrestle first. On the first days campions and prize winners will be found out in 44 (women) and 48 kg (men). On October 22 champions will be found out in 66 and 73 weight categories in females and 52, 57 weight categories in males. On October 23 champions will be found out in 81, 90 weight categories in males and 63, 70 weight categories in females. On the final day males will wrestle in 100, +100 weight categories and in 78,+78 weight categories will wrestle females.
