Zurab Datunashvili Lost Repechage Final

The second day of World Championship which is underway in Paris turned out to be unsuccessful for the Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team. Four Georgians wrestled on the French mat but none of them managed to get in Top 3.

Zurab Datunashvili (80 kg) beat Bachir Sid Azara of Algeria (2:2), Bozo Starcevic of Croatia (3:2) and Michael Wagner of Austria (3:2). In semifinal he lost to Maksim Manukyan of Armenia (0:7). In repechage final the Georgian fell to Pascal Eisele of Germany (2:5) and finally, he took the fifth place.

Champions and prize winners were also revealed in 59, 66 and 130 kg. Lasha Mariamidze (59 kg), Goga Gogiberashvili (66 kg) and Levan Arabuli (130 kg) wrestled in the name of Georgia but all of them lost the morning program.

Mariamidze failed to Erik Torba of Hungary (2:10). Gogiberashvili lost to Mate Krasznai of Hungary (3:3).

Levan Arabuli (130 kg) held three meetings in the main draw. The Georgian won over Arata Sonoda of Japan (5:1) and Abdellatif Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed of Egypt (11:3). In ¼ final Levan fell to Yasmani Acosta Fernandez of Chile (2:5).

Women champions and prize winners will be revealed today and tomorrow. Freestyle wrestlers will wrestle on August 25-26.
