Silver-Bronze of Freestyle Juniors

Georgia’s freestyle junior wrestling team won two medals at Junior World Championship, under way in Tampere. Iveriko Julakidze (66 kg) added bronze medal to the silver of Givi Macharashvili (96kg).

Julakidze lost the quarterfinal to David Baev of Russia (0:10). Before this meeting, he won over Kojiro Shiga of Japan (6:4) and Amr Reda Ramadan Hussen of Egypt (10:4). On the way to bronze, he overcame Ishak Boukhors of Algeria (14:4) and Gevorg Mkheyan of Armenia (6:4).

In the final block, heavyweight Zuriko Urtashvili (120kg) also wrestled but lacked the only step to podium.

Urtashvili started competition by winning over Magamed Zakariiev of Ukraine (10:0), then defeated Mohit Mohit of India (11:0). In ¼ final the Georgian lost to Gable Dan Stevenson (0:11) and in repechage semifinal won over Umar Israilov of Azerbaijan (13:6). In bronze final, he lost to Zaur Kozonov of Russia (2:4) and took the 5th place.

Robert Dingashvili (55kg) and Zaur Beradze (84kg) stayed beyond the competition.

Today and tomorrow women will wrestle on Tampere carpet. On the last two days of the championship – 5-6 August, Greco-Romans will take part in the competition.
